Ravello

Ravello, from my point of view

Ravello is known as the City of Music.

It’s about 5 km from Amalfi, but it feels like a different world — set higher up, overlooking the entire Amalfi Coast, with views that alone are worth the trip.

This is where you’ll find iconic places like Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo — and yes, they’re absolutely worth visiting.
Not just for the views, but for the atmosphere you experience once you’re inside.

Throughout the year, they host concerts and cultural events, but even on a normal day, they’re places you shouldn’t rush.

But if you stop there, you’re only seeing part of Ravello.

Ravello has always been chosen by people looking for something different:
less chaos, quieter, more time to actually enjoy where they are.

The town revolves around the main square, Piazza Duomo.
It’s one of those places where you sit down for a moment… and end up staying much longer.

A natural terrace surrounded by greenery, where you slow down without even realizing it.

What no one tells you

Ravello is not for everyone.

If you’re looking for nightlife, constant movement, and busy streets — this is not the right place.
If you want to slow down, relax, and actually enjoy your time — then it’s perfect.

What many people don’t realize is that Ravello can feel completely different depending on how you experience it.

It can be just a quick stop…
or one of the best parts of your trip.

Sea view – stairs

The better the view, the more you’ll need to walk.
That’s not a downside — it’s simply how Ravello is built.

Heavy luggage? It matters

Not all properties are easily accessible by car.
This is something most people underestimate.

Central location – less view

If you want everything within walking distance, you’ll likely have to compromise on the view.

Silence is a real luxury here

Just moving slightly away from the center can completely change the atmosphere.

What to actually do in Ravello

If you want to experience Ravello properly, small choices make a big difference:

  • visit the villas at the right time of day (not randomly)
  • choose the right walking routes and avoid the most crowded paths
  • take your time in the main square, without rushing from one place to another
  • explore quieter panoramic walks away from the crowds

These may seem like small details, but they completely change the experience.

Where to eat (without getting it wrong)

Not all restaurants in Ravello are the same — and many of the best ones are not the most visible online.

There are authentic places with real local cuisine, and others that are more tourist-oriented.

It’s not about finding “the best restaurant”,
it’s about choosing the right one for what you’re actually looking for.

I can help you choose based on what matters to you.

Getting around (without stress)

The Amalfi Coast is beautiful, but not always easy.

With the wrong timing, it’s easy to waste time in traffic, deal with narrow roads, and struggle with parking.

With the right choices, everything becomes much smoother.

Avoid the central hours of the day when moving around — it makes a big difference.

And in some cases, it’s simply better to move by boat or on foot rather than by car.
Otherwise, you risk spending your time in traffic, getting frustrated, and not enjoying anything.

Not to mention missing some of the most beautiful parts of the coast.

My point of view
